Award-winning trumpeter, singer, and guitarist Ilya Serov is a talented young musician with an “old soul.” First introduced to the trumpet at the age of seven, he later completed an intensive five-year program at a music academy. His earliest jazz influences included Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, and Nat “King” Cole, and he eventually incorporated their sounds and vocal stylings into his own music. Possessing both chops and charisma, Ilya established a name for himself as both a solo artist and a big band leader. Saxophone sensation Dave Koz also took notice of his talent, and the two have worked together in numerous settings. Other greats with whom he has collaborated include Jonathan Butler, Keiko Matsui, Candy Dulfer, Peter White, and Kirk Whalum. Ilya’s live performances and studio recordings are infused with imagination and energy, attracting a solid worldwide fan base. His fourth album, “Colors,” has been met with strong critical acclaim. A fusion of various genres, cultures, and backgrounds, this vibrant palette of soul-jazz, R&B grooves, and Brazilian jazz instrumentals showcases the full breadth of his musical range.
