Multi-gold album artist and Billboard ‘Best Of’ awards recipient Tom ‘Jamaica Funk’ Browne has an unstoppable passion for new music. As he is convinced, that ‘people don’t just come to hear your music – they come to connect with you’, he continues to captivate listeners as an entertainer who successfully mixes stage presence and musical artistry with a sincere audience connection. When he was 11, Tom studied piano for a year and then switched to trumpet, attending New York City's High School of Music and Art. Originally interested in classical music, he discovered jazz while ins college in the mid-'70s. During 1979 and 1989, Tom was a familiar figure on the R&B charts, recording pop-oriented material. By the late ‘80s, he largely dropped out of music, but came back in 1994. Since then, he can be found on tour regularly. With over three decades of composing, recording and performing – also as a session player and sideman – Tom has worked with the industry’s best and brightest, having shared the concert stage with Bob James, Dave Grusin, Najee, Joe Sample, Jeff Lorber, Najee and many more.
